- Make a daily and
weekly list of what needs to get done and follow through.
- If you can, move on a
weekday, when most businesses are open. It will be easier if you need to
contact a utility company, bank or post office.
- Make sure you have
already filled out your change of address forms at the post office.
- Inform all magazine
subscriptions and companies for which you receive mail of your move.
- Change your address
for all your online banking that you may already have set up.
- Order preprinted
labels with your address, it will make things easier after you move.
- Mark the contents of
each box on at least two sides. Also, mark what room they will go in.
- When unloading the
truck have the movers put them in the room they will belong or have an
"unpack room", so you can keep most of the rooms free of clutter.
- Utilize sites like

your new state, city or area.
- Keep all your
paperwork where it will be easily accessible after you move. Things you
might need for insurance, DMV and health information.
- Notify all your
utility companies of your move and don't forget the newspaper.

can do an occasional drive by and check things out for you.
- Call your new utility
companies to make sure everything will be turned on by the time you get
there.

online to find out the time limit you have for switching over your
information and registering your vehicle.
